SUPER WEEKEND!!

Our little family has officially named the past few days SUPER WEEKEND!! Between the Super Motocross in SF on Saturday and the Superbowl on Sunday, it was perfect.

Chris treated us to prime seats at the Super Motocross last night. This was Riley's first time experiencing motorcycles up close and personal beyond his toys. We could tell he thoroughly enjoyed himself and especially loved cheering with the crowd. For years now, it has been rumored that our children would have their own dirt bikes by the age of 4 years old. Hmmm - Mommy might want to take it slower than that, but we shall see! After the excitement we all experienced last night, it might be difficult to wait until Riley is older. It was too cute watching him become so enthralled and almost a little shy over the "big guys" on their bikes. For now Chris and I simply enjoyed watching him ooooh and ahhhh over many aspects of the event.

We arrived at AT&T Park earlier than the opening event so we could wander around the pits. This is where we discovered "Riley Racing" and had our little blue-eyed wonder pose next to the sign (above). We also discovered that one of the racers was allowing people to sit on his bike. Of course we could not resist! It could not have been more perfect that the bike was #2, just our luck!

While walking through the crowds, we could hear people commenting on the Fox Racing hat Riley was wearing. This is Chris' old racing hat that he used to wear around several of the tracks he himself would moto on. We would hear several people yell "LOOK AT THAT HAT!" and people would point to Riley. Chris even had someone ask him if the hat was "retro", and Chris responded that it was vintage circa 1988! He explained that Fox does not make anything like it anymore. He actually collected the hat when he was 12 years old and racing bikes himself, back when Fox Racing was a small time operation out of Campbell. He knew the owners and actually ran into one of them at last year's Super Motocross. Now Fox Racing is huge with clothing geared for things other than moto... snowboarding, mountain biking, street clothes, and stores at the mall. It is very cool that he saved this beenie after all these years. It was a huge hit last night and Riley looked adorable wearing it!

And here are a few photos of Chris and Riley just before GAME TIME today. We are proud to announce that after many years of Chris partially living his life in Steeler Country, his heroes nailed their 6th Superbowl win in one of the best Superbowl games in NFL history. It is amazing that after all these years of fighting it, I am actually interested in these facts. Shhh, do not tell my husband I have converted (hi honey!), otherwise he will run out and buy me a Steelers jersey (oh hell, get me a Hines Ward one in black)! Funny thing is that I surprised him with a Hines Ward jersey for Riley. He was beyond thrilled. GO STEELERS!!
