And finally we reach the 3rd trimester! A lovely time for peace of mind since the chance of the baby surviving outside the womb at this point in development increases by 90%. That statistic always makes me breathe a sigh of relief -- wooooo! As if there were any need to worry. We had our checkup this week and all continues to be on target. Blood pressure is great, ankles are not swelling, baby's heartbeat is strong. The only surprise was learning that I had lost weight! Shocking since I have definitely not been as active during this pregnancy as with the first and so far I have gained only half the weight. Dr G asked if I have been eating, to which I laughed out loud. It would not be possible for me to turn down food at this juncture in pregnancy! I have also had many trips to the ice cream shop with Riley this past month! Not sure what the deal is, but Chris says I just handle pregnancy well especially after having been through it before. Thanks honey!
We are now scheduled to see Dr G every two weeks. Since we have reduced Riley's school days to 3 days a week, he will be going with us to the appointments from now until baby's arrival. Dr G does not mind having Riley at the appointments since he is such a well-behaved little dude during the visits. We also think it will be good for Riley to continuously be involved and help reinforce the presence of his baby sister before she actually arrives. We love including him in this exciting process and watching him understand more each time.
