Kind of hard to believe that we are in the beginning stages of SPRING! I cannot even say enough about how quickly time is escaping us, however it sure punctuates the introduction to this blog post. Steve Miller sang it best... "Time keeps on slippin', slipplin', slippin'... into the future..."
Chris and I are working at the speed of light to hold down this precious fort. Every day presents new challenges and we're constantly mindful of how everything affects the kiddos. Today we were pleasantly uplifted. We learned at Riley's parent/teacher conference just how well we are doing and how much our efforts are being appreciated.
Mrs. Brewster shared that Riley continues to be above average in his class (something we learned at the first conference in October), and that he is a strong leader and fast learner. She could not emphasize enough about Riley's aptitude for learning. She was rather impressed with his knowledge of American currency (at a mere 6 years old), his love for reading books, his interest in science and math, but most importantly... his ability to soak up everything she teaches like a sponge. Mrs. Brewster could not speak more highly about Riley and said that he is the perfect candidate for the G.A.T.E. program. Testing begins sometime in the next few years, so we'll see how things progress between now and then.
Riley, when you read these blog posts later in life, I just want you to remember how much your parents have really truly undoubtedly loved you through this remarkable journey with you. You are the most magnificent soul we could have encountered as our beginning stages of parenthood. These days of learning who you are and who you will become are the most rewarding we could have ever imagined. Your soul shines bright, as does your intelligence, wit, charm, and charisma. There is no other person like you on Earth, and we thank God for that. Thank you for making our dreams come true and for always being at your best.
